RUDDER – INFO

Rudder is a NYC-based instrumental band. Founded on deep musical
relationships and friendships lasting over a decade, this quartet brings an
aggressive, driving rock and jam vibe to a purely instrumental setting. Rudder is
equally led by its’ four members.
Chris Cheek (saxophones) is now somewhat of an icon in the saxophone world.
His playing has been heard for years with the Paul Motion Electric Bebop Band.
He is also a member of Charlie Haden’s Liberation Orchestra and has recently
been playing with guitar great Bill Frisell. As a leader, Chris has four noteworthy
albums to his credit in addition to appearing as a sideman on over 60 other CDs.
This past summer Chris toured with Fred Hirsh and Bill Frisell. With Rudder,
Chris plays tenor, as well as baritone sax and brings his unique usage of effects
on his horn to the Rudder sound.
Henry Hey (keyboards) has enjoyed a widely diversified musical career in New
York. He has toured and recorded with everyone from Jeff Watts, Alex Sipiagin,
Bill Evans, Bill Bruford, Monday Michiru and Till Broenner to Harry Belafonte, PM
Dawn, Phil Ramone, Richard Perry, and most recently extended world touring
and television appearances as pianist and shared musical director for Rod
Stewart. This past year Henry toured with Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts, Alex Sipiagin and
Monday Michiru. Henry plays rhodes, organ and unique synthesized and sampled
textures with Rudder.
Tim Lefebvre (bass) is one of the most skilled and sought after bass players in
NY. Tim has made appearances in Saturday Night Live’s house band over the last
few years – his work has also been heard on The Apprentice, The Sopranos, Late
Show With David Letterman, The Knights of Prosperity (CBS), 30 Rock (NBC),
Oceans 12, Ocean ‘s 13, The Departed, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle,
and Analyze That!. He was also the Musical Director/Leader on The Caroline
Rhea Show on ABC. He has also appeared recently with Chris Potter, Patti
Austin, Uri Caine, and Dave Binney. This past year Tim toured with Chuck Loeb,
Dennis Chambers, Till Broenner, Eric Marienthal and Jim Beard. Tim brings his
incredible support and huge low sounds to the Rudder vibe.
Keith Carlock (drums) is quickly becoming one of the most well-known and
emulated drummers on the planet. Early on, Keith and Tim formed the backbone
that led to some new directions in the trio of guitarist Wayne Krantz. It wasn’t
long before Keith was heard by others and quickly became the drummer for the
Blues Brothers. Shortly after that he was sought out to follow in the footsteps of
Peter Erskine and other greats to sit at the drum chair of Steely Dan.
Immediately following his first extended tour with Steely Dan, Keith was on the
road for a two-year tour with Sting. This past year Keith toured with Steely Dan.
Keith’s singular sound and style are essential to the groove of Rudder.

BIOGRAPHY

Omer Klein was born in 1982 in Israel, and began playing and composing music at the age of seven. As a teenager, Klein studied Jazz at the famous Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts, and started playing concerts at age sixteen. In 2005, Klein moved to the US, where he attended the prestigious New England Conservatory. Klein’s private teacher at NEC was the Grammy-winning pianist Danilo Perez.
Klein later moved to New York, where he played at the Blue Note and Carnegie Hall, among other venues. He has released four CDs to great acclaim: Duet (2007), Introducing Omer Klein (2008), the solo piano album Heart Beats (2009), and Rockets on the Balcony (2010), his first release on John Zorn’s celebrated record label, Tzadik.
Klein has performed in more than fifteen countries and has collaborated with many renowned artists. He is the winner of numerous awards, including the 1st prize at the Jazz Hoeilaart International Competition in Belgium. In 2011, Klein wrote the music for the play “Lemon Tree” at the Schauspielhaus Theater in Düsseldorf.

OFRIN presents „Snake it“

Snake it – a fresh, authentic explosion of creativity, is Ofri Brin’s first solo project after splitting with her musical partner. Snake it is a modern full of grace and dynamics show and (upcoming) album combining pop with African and tribe elements, acoustic with soft Electronica and the power of a group of people with the strength and silent beauty of being lonesome. With the use of humour and charm singer Ofri touches issues like, virtual communication, the growing physical distance to our surrounding and the time perception changes in the modern world.

Being exposed to many forms of art through her growing up, Ofri is insisting to create a show that will cross between medias, a show combining video art and minimalistic contemporary dance together with her new songs, creating pieces of music entwined with dance theatre. “It’s very important for me that the visuals and sound will compliment and accent one another, creating a clear message, so the viewer will come out of the show with an unforgettable dynamic experience ”

The show and album will be premiered spring 2012.
In January 2012 Ofri and her band will fly Israel for a pre tour before the project launches.

Ofri Brin artist bio

Born in a small village in north Israel, into an artistic family, Ofri seemed destined to follow her family’s humble artistic path, discovering her own voice at the age of 14, participating in several musical projects in Israel and Great Britain, and later moving to Berlin, where she befriended composer Oded K.dar whom she would then share her musical vision with for 5 years in OFRIN, the band they have established together.
After OFRIN’s highly respected Pop-Jazz debut album “Rust&Velvet” (2005) and the cooperation with Producer/ keyboarder Eddie Stevens (Moloko, Roisin Murphy,Zero 7 and more) on the band’s outstanding second album “On Shore Remain” (2008), Ofri’s personal life and career go through a tectonic shift in 2010. During OFRIN’s 3rd album recording when Ofri and Oded decided to go separate ways. Ofri didn’t waste time settling back and started writing her first solo project, Snake it, which was presented in it’s ruff form on stage only 3 months later, when OFRIN was asked to play at POHODA festival in Slovakia aside to bands like Portishead, M.I.A, Junip and more.
